Jack Eaton Loses Ann Arbor Mayoral Primary But Looks Forward To Two More Years On City Council

Incumbent Christopher Taylor defeated 4th Ward City Council member Jack Eaton int he Ann Arbor Mayoral Primary on Tuesday. Eaton joined WEMU's David Fair to discuss the loss, the takeaways fromt he cmpaign and what he hopes to accomplish before his council term expires in 2020.

Taylor Wins Ann Arbor Mayoral Primary

Incumbent Christopher Taylor fended off a challenge from sitting 4th ward city councilman Jack Eaton. Taylor received nearly 59-percent of the vote in the Democratic primary and, barring an independent challenge, will be unopposed in November.

Ann Arbor City Council Races: (All Democratic Primaries)  

1st Ward: Jeff Haynor defeated Ron Ginyard by 130-votes in the 1st ward race. Haynor  will be unopposed by a Republican in November and will replace current councilmember Sumi Kailasapathy, who chose not to seek re-election.

2nd Ward: Incumbent Kirk Westphal has lost his primary race. Former Ann Arbor Board of Education Trustee Kathy Griswold recieved 53-more votes. Griswold is unopposed by a Republican in November.

3rd Ward: Incumbent Julie Grand defeated Alice Liberson garnering over 53-percent of  the vote. Grand is unopposed by a Republican in November

4th Ward: Incumbent Graydon Krapohl  has lost his primary race. Elizabeth Nelson won the support of nealy 60 percent of voters in the ward.

5th Ward: Incumbent Chuck Warpehoski went down to defeat, as well. Challenger Ali Ramlawi, earned 162 more votes. Ramlawi is unopposed by a Republican in November.
