EMU Hosts Ribbon Cutting Ceremony For New Health Center

Eastern Michigan University hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday afternoon to celebrate the opening of the new "IHA Health Center @ EMU."  89.1 WEMU's Jorge Avellan was there and has the story.

The over 12,000 square foot center will replace the current "Snow Health Center" on campus.  The site will offer both primary and urgent care to students and the general public.  Mark LePage is the CEO of IHA, one of the medical partners that’s helping with the project.

Mark LePage: Folks expect and deserve to have primary care services in particular close to home. So this just extends our reach into the community even more deeply that it has been.

Eastern is also working with Saint Joseph Mercy Health Systemon the project.  The center, that will be open nights and weekends, will officially be available to the public on November 4th.  A community open house will be held on Saturday, November 2nd from 10 AM - 12 PM, so members of the public can tour the facility.
