EMU Nursing Partners With IHA To Help Slow Spread Of Coronavirus

Eastern Michigan University

Students and faculty from Eastern Michigan University’s nursing program are stepping up to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

EMU Nursing has partnered with Integrated Health Associates to help with the ongoing pandemic.

More than 240 volunteers from the school’s nursing program are now answering phones, gathering test samples, and providing other assistance at IHA’s testing locations in Ann Arbor and Brighton.

The director of EMU’s nursing operations, Sherry Bumpus, says mobilizing these volunteers will help take some of the pressure off of the local health care system.

“With the volunteers we have, we’re not having to pull staff from the hospitals to do the community work, so it has a tremendous impact,” Bumpus says.

Bumpus says they’re planning to expand their help even further as more people continue to volunteer.
