The closure of some downtown Ann Arbor streets to allow for expanded social distance dining and shopping has been extended by the Ann Arbor City Council.

The executive director of the Ann Arbor Downtown Development Authority, Susan Pollay, says she’s grateful to Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer for declaring this coming Saturday, September 26th “Downtown Day.”

She urges everyone to visit downtown Ann Arbor shops and restaurants to the extent they feel comfortable to do so.  Pollay says, "Think local, and support local."

She points to the many historic buildings in downtown Ann Arbor, many of which date back to before the pandemic of 1918and are still standing, as a sign that we can all get through this together.
