More University of Michigan employees could be unionizing soon.
The U of M Lecturers’ Employee Organization, also known as LEO, is considering a proposal to grant union membership to the university’s librarians, archivists, and curators.
LEO currently represents all non-tenure track faculty working on the university’s campuses.
Its president, Ian Robinson, says both groups of workers do a lot of vital work for U of M’s teaching and research operations.
“So it seems like a way to unite forces and pursue a lot of common goals,” Robinson says.
Robinson says LEO’s membership have until March 4th to vote on the issue.
