The City of Saline is now accepting applications for City Manager, following feedback from residents, city employees, and business owners through a survey regarding the qualities they seek in an ideal candidate.
About 160 surveys were shared with the Saline City Council and the city manager hiring committee this month regarding community expectations for a new city manager.
Mayor Brian Marl says the Saline community wants someone committed to economic development and effective communication.
“There was a desire, rightfully so, to have somebody who was a robust, aggressive communicator who engaged with all community groups and stakeholders in the Saline community.”
After applications close next Friday, the hiring committee will narrow down candidates to three or four at their May 12th meeting. The selected candidates will then participate in mock department head meetings.
Marl says interviews in front of the city council, which will be open to community participation, will occur on May 20th and/or 21st.
