JLC’s Low-Cost Community Book Sale is a family-run project that gets ALL the books directly FROM THE COMMUNITY through our community service called Give My Books (givemybooks.com). We have some of the most popular titles available, as well as extremely eclectic vintage/ antique books that change EVERY sale. The books are valuable to readers in general, to collectors and resellers, (Amazon, eBay, Bookstores, Dealers, Etc.) with EXTREMELY reasonable prices. This is a sale that is worth coming to!! Again, I promise.

TEACHERS NIGHT Wednesday - 4:00pm - 8:00pm ADMISSION: Free ALL BOOKS ARE REGULAR PRICES FOR TEACHERS DURING TEACHER NIGHT IF: Every Teacher/Homeschoolers MUST show proof of teaching at checkout for access to regular prices, and their discount. Discount for Teachers and Homeschool Families: We offer a 10% discount to any teacher or home school family regardless of which day you purchase your books. You simply need to prove that you indeed qualify (please bring proof). Homeschoolers, get creative with your proof  we will accept it.
Final Note About Premium Access Day and Teachers Night:
Because both will be going on at the same time and the books are at different prices, we would like to request that everyone who utilizes the teacher night’s regular prices and the teacher discount will be using the books to benefit their students, classrooms or homeschool households. We understand that teachers/parents also like to read adult fiction and nonfiction books too, so we are happy to give you the regular prices and discount and free books for those books as well, as you buy books for your students. 
The purpose of this section is to request that nobody will misuse the teacher night prices and discounts if they are, in fact, buying books to resell or otherwise using the books for their personal use rather than for the benefit of children or classrooms. Therefore, we reserve the right to refuse the teacher discounts of free books and regular prices and 10% off at our discretion on Wednesday.
We love giving free books, special prices and discounts, but we also would like to be honored regarding the purpose of the special times. Thank you for this.

A2 JAZZ FEST Celebrates 10th Anniversary with Two-Day Local Music Showcase

ANN ARBOR, MI — The A2 JAZZ FEST is proud to announce its 10th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, Sept. 26, and Sunday, Sept. 27, 2026. This milestone event honors a decade of "lifting up A2 Jazz" by featuring two days of diverse, Michigan-centric music. All events are free and open to the public.
Event Schedule and Locations:
Saturday, Sept. 26 (4 PM – 10 PM): The festival kicks off at The Rabbit Hole (210 S. 1st St.), Ann Arbor’s premier indoor-outdoor arts venue. The evening begins with a Student Showcase and continues with alternating indoor and outdoor sets.
Sunday, Sept. 27 (6 PM – 10 PM): The celebration moves to The Raven’s Club (207 S. Main St.) for three featured jazz sets.
A Decade of Supporting Local Talent Founded in 2016 by local musician and teacher Dave Sharp, the A2 JAZZ FEST was designed to showcase emerging artists and provide professional opportunities for Washtenaw County musicians. Since its inception, and despite a brief hiatus during the pandemic, the festival has steadily grown its talent base and reached increasingly wider audiences.
"10 years is a major milestone," organizers noted, emphasizing the festival's role in maintaining a vibrant arts scene amidst broader funding cuts to the sector. This year’s festival will feature the Outreach Education Stage with Sean Dobbins, a highly regarded bandleader and Professor of Jazz Studies at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music.
Mission and Community Impact The mission of the A2 JAZZ FEST extends beyond performance to include:
Employment: Creating sustainable work for local musicians.
Education: Providing accessibly priced entertainment and utilizing improvisational music as a "brain-building" tool for developing musicians.
Mentorship: Co-creating STEAM activities that facilitate intergenerational mentorship and bring diverse communities together.

Flight to 25 is a special kickoff event bringing our community together to build excitement for this milestone year and celebrate the people, creativity, and connection that have carried Telling It this far.

We’ll lead therapeutic expressive arts activities designed to lower stress levels—and hold a silent auction designed to raise them again. (All for a good cause, of course.)

Glass Artist Larry Nisson invites you to take in the sights and sounds of the fabulous glass art garden exhibit located right in the back yard of his Westside Ann Arbor home — and take a piece home with you!

Nisson Glass Art will be hosting its annual garden show and sale, with all proceeds from the show to benefit the Ann Arbor Art Center’s Art in Public Program. The show takes place in Nisson’s back yard- home to a menagerie of beautiful blown and fused glass pieces, colorfully arranged around the flowers, plants, and impressive water feature, that is a visual joy to all who visit!

Since 2018, The Ann Arbor Art Center (A2AC) has served as a catalyst for regional public art through the Art in Public (AiP) program. [they] believe the experience of art should be accessible and equitable to everyone; therefore, [they] collaborate with local organizations, businesses, and individuals to integrate high-quality creativity into the everyday lives of residents and visitors alike.

Also exhibiting work at the show is artist Wendy Bauer-Braun - a landscape painter and woodworker, whose passion for the outdoors inspires her work. Her paintings capture the calm shifts within daily landscapes, painted on wood panels, and complemented by her handmade frames. (Together with her husband, they make fine furniture at their home studio as well.) Wendy’s works have been at venues such as Kerrytown Concert House, Found Gallery in Kerrytown, Westside Art Hop and The Ann Arbor Original Art Fair.

10-piece big band led by Chris Smith, specializing in hot jazz of the 1920s and 30s. Jelly Roll Morton, King Oliver, Duke Ellington and other jazz legends are prominent in their repertoire. Great for listening or dancing.
