The Washtenaw County Health Department says COVID-19 has motivated many residents in our community to enroll for medical insurance through the marketplace.
The Washtenaw Health Plan has enrolled over 200 people since open enrollment started on November 1st. That’s about the same during this same time last year, but the big difference is that the county is currently only offering remote enrollment assistance because of the pandemic. Jeremy Lapedisis the executive director of the Washtenaw Health Plan.
Jeremy Lapedis: There are people who are saying, you know, I don’t know if I’m going to get COVID next year. I wouldn’t normally get health insurance, it’s kind of expense, but I’m just going to bite the bullet and pay for it because it better than taking the risk.
