Protest Will Be Held On Friday In Superior Township After Tenants Receive Eviction Notices

Survivors Speak

A protest will be held Friday morning at 9 am in Superior Township after several tenants at the Sycamore Meadows apartment complex received eviction notices.

The community groupSurvivors Speakis questioning accusations made against the tenants that include disorderly conduct and excessive noise.  Trische’ Duckworth is the executive director of Survivors Speak and says Sycamore Meadows has a history of not getting along with tenants and failing to update its housing facilities to bring them up to code.  Units at the complex are subsidized by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Trische' Duckworth: And our opinion, HUD needs to step in, is what we’re going to be asking in the list of demands. That HUD step in and remove this owner or advocate for some type of rehab.

The protest will take place outside of the apartment complex.  We reached out to Sycamore Meadows for comment but did not hear back from them.
