The Washtenaw County Health Department is currently helping local residents enroll for medical insurance through the marketplace.
Open enrollment runs from now until December 15th. But as a result of the pandemic, this year, the local health department is only offering enrollment assistance through virtual channels, like Zoom, or over the phone, or by email. Jeremy Lapedis is the executive director of the Washtenaw Health Plan and says they hope more people are motivated to enroll because of COVID-19.
Jeremy Lapedis: It’s possible that folks are thinking that, and I would love that to be a message that we send to people that is very important to get insurance, now more than ever.
Last year, the Washtenaw County Health Department enrolled over 700 people in the marketplace. Currently, about 3.9% of Washtenaw County’s residents are uninsured. To make an appoinment with the health department, click here.
