Ypsilanti's First Same Sex Married Couple On The 15th Anniversary Of First Same-Sex Marriage

May 17, 2019

Ypsilanti's first same sex married couple recalls their wedding process on the 15th Anniversary of the first legal same-sex marriage in the United States.  Lisa and Beth Bashert have been together for over 30 years, first having the legal right to get married in Ypsilanti, Michigan in 2014.  That right has changed a few times since then, and the Ypsilanti mayor and her legal partner say it's been an emotional and legal roller coaster as they struggle to marry the person they love.
