Musharraf Gets Court's OK for October Election
Pakistan's Supreme Court ruled 6-3 Friday that President Pervez Musharraf is allowed to contest the Oct. 6 election, dismissing legal challenges that he could not run while remaining army chief. The ruling virtually assures Musharraf will remain Pakistan's leader.

Issues of the Environment: Michigan lawmakers face challenges in creating new budget
The State House and Senate are working to come to an agreement on the budget for the 2025 fiscal year and get it sent to Governor Gretchen Whitmer before a self-imposed July 1st deadline. Some of the environmental measures proposed by Governor Whitmer have been left out and finding for others is at a premium. 33rd District State Representative Felicia Brabec has been actively involved in the process. WEMU's David Fair checked in with the Pittsfield Township Democrat for the latest.

Issues of the Environment: Ann Arbor moving towards great energy equity and resilience
Recent power outages in Washtenaw County have a good portion of Southeast Michigan outraged. Nearly a million lost power in the last two winter storms. Ann Arbor City Council member Jen Eyer joins WEMU's David Fair to discuss what the city will ask of the state legislature and the Michigan Public Service Commission and the increased interest in establishing a municipal electric utility in Ann Arbor.

#OTGYpsi: EMU students study invasive freshwater jellyfish
It's not often that when we think of jellyfish that we think of them existing in fresh water. But an Eastern Michigan University biology professor and a group of her students are studying this phenomenon in various lakes across Michigan. WEMU's Cathy Shafran was joined by Concentrate Media reporter Rylee Barnsdale to discuss her article on the subject. And, they are joined by EMU biology professor Cara Shillington and EMU grad student Rachel Koski to explore the growing statewide interest in the freshwater creatures since the first report of their work was shared late last year.

Thanks to millions of dollars in grants and scholarships, Washtenaw Community College is now able to offer free training for high-demand careers for some 300 adults and high school students. Washtenaw United: 'Dress for Success Michigan' helps create opportunity and equity for women
Depending on career path or job choice, women are still playing catch-up in the American workforce. The inequity is not just in job-to-job comparisons but also in access to employment opportunity. Creating that opportunity is what the organization “Dress for Success Michigan" is all about. #OTGYpsi: All About Speed Track Club awarded Youth Mini-Grant from City of Ypsilanti
Two nonprofits serving youth are the recipients of the 2025 City of Ypsilanti Youth Mini-Grants. One of which is the All About Speed Track Club, which gets kids involved in track and field events. The club's president and head coach, Sean Brandon, Jr., joined Rylee Barnsdale to talk about what's in the club's future thanks to their financial gift.
