Washtenaw United: Ypsilanti District Library creating community and connection
There was a time when many thought of libraries as simplay a place to check out books and to study quietly. No more. While you can still do both of those things, libraries have become much more. They are a center of community engagement and have programs designed to inspire a love of lifelong learning. WEMU's David Fair talked with Ypsilanti District Library director Lisa Hoenig about its growing role in the community.

#OTGYpsi: Naloxone machines and other harm reduction efforts aim to reduce Ypsi-area opioid overdose deaths
The opioid epidemic is alive and well in Washtenaw County. In addition to prescription medications, fentanyl and heroin continue to claim lives. Fortunately, Narcan is saving lives. The Washtenaw County Health Department has put a focus on harm reduction and recovery when it comes to drug use. through the "It Is Possible" campaign. Communications coordinator Beth Ann Hamilton joined Rylee Barnsdale to discuss educating the efforts.

Washtenaw United: League of Women Voters of Washtenaw County working to raise voter turnout
Absentee ballots continue to roll in. Nine days of early-in person voting will conclude on November 3rd. And then, Election Day hits on Tuesday, November 5th. There are still a good number of people who have yet to vote, and getting out the vote and making sure voters are informed is at the heart of the mission of the League of Women Voters of Washtenaw County. WEMU's David Fair checked in with the League’s voter services director, Rebecca Shiemke, on where we are and what’s left to be done.
