The leadership of Rx Kids say they were shocked when a House committee unilaterally cut their state funding. But it promises that all families currently signed up for the program, including those in Ypsilanti, will get their assistance. WEMU’s Kevin Meerschaert reports.

The Michigan Senate voted Tuesday evening to restore most of the funding that a House committee had canceled last week. As Colin Jackson explains, the Senate vote is the first step toward potentially undoing budget cuts by a House committee that bypassed the Senate and governor by using a rarely invoked section of state law.

A program that provides direct cash payments to expectant mothers and families is coming to Ypsilanti. Rx Kids will officially begin enrollment December 1. WEMU’s Kevin Meerschaert reports.
