Fans interested in attending the Manchester United-Real Madrid game at Michigan Stadium will likely need to turn to the secondary market if they don't have tickets yet.  The University of Michigan ticket office and Guinness International Champions Cup officials announced tickets to the August 2nd game were sold out less than an hour after they became available to the general public Thursday.

Most of the tickets were sold in pre-sales for people who had signed up for advance notice through the Champions Cup website or University of Michigan connections such as season ticket holders.

Over two-thousand tickets are currently available on stub-hub dot com.  A limited number of tickets may become available at the Michigan ticket office in the coming months.

The game could break the United States record for fans at a soccer game set during the 1984 Olympics. Real Madrid's roster includes Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale of Wales. Manchester United features English striker Wayne Rooney.

Like many, I first came to this area when I started school at the University of Michigan, then fell in love with the community and haven’t left. After graduating from U of M in the mid 1990’s I interned at WDET for several years, while also working a variety of jobs in Ann Arbor. Then in 1999 I joined the WEMU news team.
