Hundreds of job hunters and potential employers will meet at Eastern Michigan University tomorrow for the school's annual Teacher Job Fair.
Prospective candidates will have a chance to share resumes and meet with recruiters from 142 school districts from more than 20 states.
Barbara Jones is the senior corporate relations manager at EMU's University Advising and Career Development Center.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for candidates seeking a teaching job to come to the fair and actually meet the recruiters individually. These could be building principals, assistant superintendents, and, in some cases, superintendents."
Jones adds that it’s not unheard of for teaching candidates to win a job right at the job fair.
"They are actively trying to talk to students and recruit them for their schools, collect resumes, and, in some cases, they will do short interviews right on the spot."
Jones says the event is open to the public and does not require any prior registration.
The fair is being held in the EMU Convocation Center and runs Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
