Eastern Michigan University spent $750,000 over the summer to install new surveillance cameras.
There are now more than 800 cameras on campus. It's part of EMU's plan to make students feel safer after racist graffiti was discovered on campus last year. Many students requested the extra security.
EMU spokesperson Geoff Larcom says the cameras will help with police investigations.
"You're able to identify what happened, and you're able to identify images of people who were involved in these cases. And you can help by circulating those images."
EMU police is reviewing surveillance footage to see if they can identify who fired a gun near a residence hall this past weekend.
