Eastern Michigan University's Board of Regents approved a gift of $8 million on Friday to build a new golf facility on campus.  The project will be entirely funded by the EMU alumni group "GameAbove." University President James Smith reiterates what the group told Eastern when they made their financial commitment.

President James Smith: We're all into building the building and then we are into maintaining the building for 12 years. And at that point, they have an option to do four or eight more.

Construction designs have not been selected but the facility, which will be called "The GameAbove Golf Performance Center," could open next year.  Community members will be allowed to use the new center.
