The Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners is considering adding a public health and seniors millage proposal on the November ballot.
The board wants to levy 0.5 mills for six years at a cost of about $5 a month for the average homeowner. Half of the funds raised will go to public health for operations, such as clinical services, while the other half will be used on services targeting the county’s aging population, such as senior centers. Commissioner Katie Scott says the millage would help cover unexpected costs the county has recently experienced.

The board will vote on August 5th on whether or not they want to place the proposal on the November ballot.
