Ward 4 Ann Arbor City Council Primary Winner Jen Eyer Has High Hopes For City Council

Winning more than 60 percent of the vote in the Democratic primary race for Ann Arbor City Council, Jen Eyer beat incumbent Jack Eaton and will face no opposition on the ballot in November.  She talks with WEMU's Lisa Barry about what she hopes will happen when she joins several other new city council members early next year.

Jen Eyer says housing issues in Ann Arbor are top on her list of issues she hopes to address on City Council with a multi-pronged approach.  She says she expects a change in tone with the five mayor-backed candidates who also won in the City Council primary race August 4th.

Eyer says she expects a lot of thoughtful discussions at the council table when they begin meeting next year.  She says her years as a former journalist help her approach every issue based on facts and the data and looks for the missing voice or perspective from a situation under consideration.

Eyer says she will be looking for ways to bring greater transparency to residents and the media once the new council convenes.
