Eastern Michigan University has chosen US Senator Gary Peters to be its Winter Commencement speaker.
Peters was elected in 2014 and serves on several committees, including the Senate Armed Services Committee.
“Senator Peters has been a devoted public servant for a long time,” says EMU spokesman Geoff Larcom. “And it will be fascinating to hear his insights on what his activities are as well as the advice and perspective he has for EMU students.”
Larcom says EMU will also present Senator Peters and EMU alum and NASCAR team owner Jack Roush with honorary degrees during the ceremony.
Winter Commencement will take place at 9:30 a.m. on December 15 in the EMU Convocation Center.
