The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office has opened an investigation after someone shot a car owned by the husband of Ypsilanti Township Board of Trustee Monica Ross-Williams.
The incident took place on July 5th while the car was parked in the driveway of the trustee’s Ypsilanti Township home. Ross-Williams, who is running for township clerk and who recently suggested creating a law enforcement oversight committee, is now wondering if the shooting was racially motivated. In May, someone displayed a noose and used the n-word during a community zoom meeting she participated in.
Trustee Monica Ross-Williams: We have lived in our neighborhood. We have lived in West Willow for the last 20 years. Never, ever, ever has there been a bullet shot at my house or at either one of our vehicles.
No one was injured as a result of the shooting.
