Christie's auctioned off hundreds of items belonging to the late fashion icon this week. Top-selling items included Andy Warhol paintings and some of Talley's signature custom coats.

Washtenaw United: The importance of making informed voting decisions
The August 2nd primary elections are right around the corner. Redistricting has a number of things in Washtenaw County, including voting districts and some polling locations. All the while, there are important races and ballot issues to decide and knowing who and what you are voting for is vital. Informing the electorate is the mission of the non-profit, the League of Women Voters of Washtenaw County. WEMU's David Fair caught up with the organization's new president, Lynn Kochmanski, to discuss those efforts.

#OTGYpsi: The nonprofit DAPCO celebrates 26 years of serving the Ypsilanti community
A local non-profit will soon be marking 26 years helping those who are struggling to improve their quality of life. The organization is called DAPCO. It helps those in the Ypsilanti community with everything from building a business to relationship mentoring to helping with health care and baby products. WEMU's Josh Hakala and Concentrate Media's Rylee Barnsdale were joined by DAPCO's co-founder, Brenda Griffin, to discuss community impact.

Independent restaurants serve Ypsilanti in just about every cuisine you can imagine. In fact, for restaurant owners, the city has become a desired location. In choosing Ypsilanti, they also work towards creating community. There are a number of eatery owners working to do just that, and Naj Hammoud is among them. He and his family own and operate Speedy’s Big Burgers, and he shared his story with Concentrate Media's Rylee Barnsdale.

Issues of the Environment: Gretchen Driskell to become next Washtenaw County Water Resources Commissioner
Washtenaw County has elected its next Water Resources Commissioner. Evan Pratt decided against running for re-election after serving four terms. Former Saline Mayor and State Representative Gretchen Driskell won the race. She joined WEMU's David Fair to discuss the priorities and challenges of the new job.

Blues Song Is a Decades-Long Music Lesson
As part of our series about students and teachers, musicologist Bruce Nemerov describes the way that one song is recorded by several different musicians in different decades of the 20th century. The older musicians are teaching the younger musicians through the song "Sitting on Top of the World." We hear the song as recorded by Al Jolson, The Mississippi Sheiks, Howlin' Wolf, Eric Clapton, Bill Monroe and The Grateful Dead.
