Ann Arbor's Adopt-A-Park program helps make the city look a little nicer, and that's the objective of Saturday's 26th Annual Downtown Blooms Day.

As part of the clean-up effort the Adopt-A-Park program will have kickoff events at many of the city's parks.  Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator Tina Roselle says a great mix of people participate, from scout groups, to businesses, to neighborhood groups.
Roselle thinks volunteers help put the icing on the cake to make the city's parks truly great.  She says volunteer duties range from notifying parks officials when something is amiss, to weeding flowerbeds and pruning trees on a regular basis.

The kick-off events run from 9 until noon.

Like many, I first came to this area when I started school at the University of Michigan, then fell in love with the community and haven’t left. After graduating from U of M in the mid 1990’s I interned at WDET for several years, while also working a variety of jobs in Ann Arbor. Then in 1999 I joined the WEMU news team.
