Voter Registration Deadline For August Primary Elections Coming Soon

If you plan to vote in the August 8th primary election, you have to be registered by July 10th.  There will a ballot issue in Ypsilanti, primary elections in four of the five Ann Arbor city council wards, and a few other proposals to be decided on the 2nd Tuesday in August. 

The Washtenaw County Elections Departmentonly expects a ten percent voter turnout because the outcome won't affect all of their 280,000 registered voters.  

Ed Golembiewski is the Director of Elections.  

"It's about 119,000 voters that have an item on the ballot. That includes Ypsilanti city and Ann Arbor city's four wards that have primaries. Proposals in Dexter Community Schools, Lyndon Township, and Northfield Township."

25% of the votes are expected to come through absentee ballots.  You can register to vote with theSecretary of State, county, city or township.
