Michigan 6th District Congresswoman Debbie Dingell is one of the main co-sponsors of the reintroduced Medicare for All Bill. Dingell and other supporters held a press conference and rally Tuesday in Washington.
Nurses and other healthcare providers joined Dingell and other lawmakers to announce the introduction of the bill. Dingell told the crowd continuing to tie health care to employment will always leave patients vulnerable.
She noted a constituent who was recently fired at the Great Lakes Medical Lab.
“She had no insurance. Her doctor wouldn’t see her. She didn’t know what she was going to do. And that is not what should happen, should ever happen and that is why we are here fighting.”
Under the legislation, Medicare would provide comprehensive health care with no premiums, co-payments or deductibles. It would also expand Medicare to include dental, hearing, and vision care.
