Ann Arbor Summer Festival executive director Mike Michelon shared more information about opportunities for live performances for the upcoming Ann Arbor Summer Festival.

Because most performance events must be planned well in advance, there will be no Top Of The Park events or indoor concerts as part of the Ann Arbor Summer Festival for the second year in a row, due to the ongoing pandemic.

A few weeks after canceling ticketed events for the annual Ann Arbor Summer Festival, executive director Mike Michelon now revealed there will be no traditional Top Of The Park events either, due to coronavirus concerns.  He spoke with WEMU's Lisa Barry about how they are trying to envision some new activities to keep the popular summer event alive but in a different capacity, due to health concerns.

This week, "Art and Soul" is about the vibrant local performance arts scene.  89.1 WEMU’s Lisa Barry and Wendy Wright talk with the executive director of the Ann Arbor Summer Festival, Mike Michelon, about what’s planned for the Mainstage for the upcoming event.

2019 marks year two of the Ann Arbor Summer Festival’s “Festival Footprint Initiative.”  Initially, the plan was to get to a 90% waste diversion rate in 3-5 years.  Now, the plan is being accelerated.  James Carter, the festival's programming and operations manager, joins WEMU’s David Fair for a conversation on environmental stewardship through the course of a three-week long event in this week's "Issues of the Environment."

The Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs has awarded $9.65 million in grants to various cultural groups in the State. 

Groups in Washtenaw County received a total of $891,055, the third highest amount in the state of Michigan. This was approximately a 19% increase from previous year's total of $749,984 to fund arts and cultural programs in the area.

The Ann Arbor Summer Festival has announced the line up for the admission-free Top of the Park series! The festival’s 32nd season runs 6 nights per week, from June 12 – July 5, 2015.

One of Ann Arbor's biggest events is temporarily looking for a new home.  For only the second time in 32 years, the Ann Arbor Summer Festival's Top of the Park is moving.


A number of families received a pleasant surprise Tuesday evening when an anonymous donor passed out $100 bills to at least three vendors on food row at the Ann Arbor Summer Festival’s Top of the Park.

The new executive director of the Ann Arbor Summer Festival hopes everyone in the area will find something they like at the 31st annual event.  That shouldn't be a problem with more than 140 concerts and events kicking-off tonight.

The Ann Arbor Summer Festival marks its 30th Anniversary this year. The annual celebration of music and entertainment is now in its final week for 2013. As this year's event winds down, we thought it a good time to look at the past, present and future of the festival. As WEMU's Wendy Wright discovered, the common thread has been, and will continue to be, a sense of community.
