President Donald Trump’s campaign has filed a lawsuit in the US District Court for Western Michigan to block certification of the state’s election results.  A similar case was also argued yesterday in the Wayne County Circuit Court.  We have more from Rick Pluta.

With the results of the presidential election unofficially declared, saying Joe Biden is believed to be the next President of the United States, there are questions and legal challenges being presented to those voting results.  Concerns are being raised in several political corners about alleged election voter count fraud.

The Washtenaw County Elections Department says voters will soon start to see an increase in the number of absentee ballot drop-off boxes being installed around the county.  

There were a two contested primary races in Ypsilanti Township on Tuesday.

Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson says Tuesday’s primary elections were by and large a success.  But she says the November election will be a much bigger challenge.  We have more from Rick Pluta.

There were three contested primary races among candidates for the Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday. They were in the 3rd, 4th and 5th districts. 

For a second time, Washtenaw County Sheriff, Jerry Clayton, has fended off a challenge from longtime law enforcement professional, Ken Magee. In Tuesday's Democratic primary race, Clayton garnered over 75-percent of the vote. Clayton has no Republican opposition in November. 

In the November, 2016 general election, Magee ran as a Republican against Clayton and lost. Clayton was first elected Sheriff in November, 2008. 

The bid to win another 4-year term as Washtenaw County Clerk/Register of Deeds continues for Lawrence Kestenbaum.  Kestenbaum garnered more votes than either of the two challengers in the  democratic primary. He received over 67-percent of the vote. Doristeen Taylor of Ann Arbor had just over 17-percent and Pecola Lewis of Ypsilanti won a little more than 15-percent of votes.

Kestenbaum faces a Republican challenge from Gary Greiner of Ann Arbor in November. Greiner was unopposed Tuesday. 

In Augusta Township, there were primary races for Clerk, Supervisor and the Township Board of Trustees.

After being advised by doctors and public health officials to stay home for the past several months due to the pandemic, voting day may mean some people will need to go out to cast a ballot or turn in an absentee ballot if they didn't mail it back in time.

A large number of Washtenaw County voters took advantage of Michigan's new, no-reason absentee voting for the March 10th election.  Results were tabulated more quickly that anticipated, and lessons were learned for the elections still to come in 2020.  Washtenaw County director of elections Ed Golembiewski gives his perspective in a conversation with WEMU's David Fair.
