Law enforcement officials, including the FBI, Michigan State Police and local jurisdictions, executed a series of search warrants in Ypsilanti, Ann Arbor and Canton Wednesday morning.
Attorney General’s office spokesman Danny Whimmer says the search warrants were executed against multiple individuals at several locations. He says ICE was not involved, nor anyone else regarding immigration enforcement.
Whimmer says only the search warrants were served.
“Some individuals were briefly detained and released in the execution of the search warrant. No arrest warrants are being executed, and, to my knowledge, no arrests have taken place.“
According to the advocacy group TAHRIR Coalition, the raids took place at the homes of University of Michigan pro-Palestine activists, and officers confiscated electronic devices.
Wimmer says it was part of an investigation into acts of vandalism and not protests on the U-M campus.
