Washtenaw County Voters decided a couple of local judicial races on Tuesday.

When redistricting was finalized, the number of State House districts covering portions of Washtenaw County expanded from four to seven. Prior to this election cycle, those four house districts were all contained within the county borders. Now, several expand beyond Washtenaw County.

There were contested races in all nine districts on the Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners. All winners will serve two-year terms.

Poll workers and election officials across the country are concerned about their safety during election season. One in six election workers have experienced threats, according to a Brennan Center for Justice survey. While there have been no specific threats reported to law enforcement in Washtenaw County, WEMU’s Josh Hakala found out the sheriff’s department is prepared.
