The Washtenaw County Health Department will conduct free COVID-19 pop-up tests at an event this Saturday in Whitmore Lake.

As we all continue both personally and in the business world to try and figure out our new reality in light of our current global health crisis, Washtenaw County farmers are also finding ways to respond and grow.  WEMU's Lisa Barry spoke with B Love Davis of White Lotus Farms and Kim Bayer & Kristen Muehlhauser of the Washtenaw Organic Collaborative about their efforts to keep their farms growing during the current health crisis and keep the community connected with healthy, locally-sourced food.

So far in 2019, the weather has particularly warm and damp, which has led to a serious increase in the mosquito and tick population.  Therefore, the risk for diseases these insects carry has increased, as well.  In this week's "Issues of the Environment," WEMU's David Fair talks to Washtenaw County Health Department environmental health director Kristen Schweighoefer about a new initiative to fight these illnesses.

Thousands of peony plants are "technically" just past peak bloom in Ann Arbor's historic Peony Garden.  89.1 WEMU's Lisa Barry spoke with a local artist who has been capturing the thousands of blooms using pastels for nearly 15 years.

The North-South Commuter Rail, also known as WALLY, is a proposed project that would connect Ann Arbor and Howell with intermediate stops along the way.  A community meeting was held to inform the public on details about the project.

Fireworks are a part of many people's 4th of July celebrations, whether it's watching a professional show or lighting some off in the neighborhood.  Here's what's scheduled in our area and what is legally allowed. 


If you have the day off Monday there's no shortage of events you can participate in to help celebrate working Americans.

The Detroit Jazz Festival wraps up Monday, as does the Saline Community Fair, being held at the Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds.
